Share Ministries

 

Share a Saturday Meal.  Share you time, share your resources, share with those in need in the community.  Share ministry strives to provide a Saturday meal to anyone in need (homeless, living on the edge, struggling to make ends meet) no questions asked.  The ministry began in 2005 in response to a need for weekend meal options as many aide centers only served Monday though Friday.  We now have 5 participating church groups who rotate weekends and are always looking for other interested groups.  We have had student service groups in the past and even occasional individuals interested in community involvement.  The meal is served each Saturday from 3-5 pm.  Most of the year we serve out of University United Methodist Church and when we are not there we use the First United Methodist Church.  We are currently looking for additional centrally located churches with a willingness to host the ministry part time to reduce our impact on the facility use of any one church.  Individuals looking to share a meal are invited to come any Saturday at 3pm.  Churches, organizations, or individuals interested in partnering with Share ministry are invited to join our planning meetings the second Monday or each month at 7pm at the University United Methodist Church, call the church office to find out which group will be serving any given weekend to contact them for specific requests, or drop off warm clothing, socks, toiletries, or non-perishable food items to the church office during business hours.  If you know individuals who could benefit from a free meal please help us spread the word and invite them to share a meal with us.  We have no requirements for attendance and are not trying to evangelize anyone.  We just want to do our part to share the bread of life.
